Information: FIRE AT CROW SUMMIT TAKES WOMAN'S LIFE- One person burned to death, and a second escaped from a burning home and, had a Ripley fireman not arrived on the scene in time, would have died of cold and exposure at Crow Summit on Wednesday night. The dead woman has been identified by officials as being Mae Warrick, formerly of Parkersburg, and the man who barely escaped death as Howard Robinson, 57 year old retired oil field worker. Robinson has been in a hospital since he was saved from death and officers say that they do not have a full account of how the fire started which destroyed the two story home. Fire chief John Landfried, Alvin Hunt, Ernest Parsons and Mickey Baltic, Ripley firemen, were the first persons to reach the scene and found Robinson outside the house in the snow. He was slightly burned, and was near death from cold and exposure. He would have been dead within a few minutes. He was rushed to the Kessel Clinic in Ripley and was later taken to a Parkersburg hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Warrick, who was 47 years old, were from the Parsons funeral home here Sunday afternoon and burial was in the Clinton cemetery, near Ripley. She was born at Gassaway and was the daughter of the late James M. and Della Cook Short. Surviving are two brothers, Clifford Short and Clinton Short of Jamestown, Ohio; half-brother, John King of Gassaway; and a half-sister, Madaline Sayre of Pittsburgh.
