Information: John E. Bowman, 71, of Ripley, died Thursday afternoon while sitting in a chair on the lawn at his home.  Death was attributed to a heart attack.  He was the brother of Charles Bowman of Ravenswood.  Born June 28, 1893, a son of Thad Bowman, now deceased and Mrs. Callie Housher Bowman of Silverton, who survives, he was married in 1920 to Lena F. Balser who also survives.  He was a farmer, a veteran of World War I and a member of the EUB Church at Sandyville.  Survivors include his widow, a son, John Bowman, Jr., Ripley; seven daughters, Mrs. Ruby Smith, Mrs. Marjorie Shamblin, Mrs. Shirley Ramsey and Mrs. Nonia Smith all of Ripley; Mrs Sylvia Besworth, Warren, Ohio, Mrs. Dorothy Mahyffy, North Georgetown, Ohio and Mrs. Rose Snyder, Ashville, Ohio; two brothers, Charles Bowman, Ravenswood and Arthur Bowman, Ashville, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Goodman, Huntington, Mrs. Edith Bennett and Mrs. Hazel McCartney both of Silverton; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were under direction of the Parsons Funeral Home in Ripley.
