  <p>Information: Vannest, Emma F. Anthony                    Funeral services for Mrs. Emma F. Vannest, who died at her home in Ripley on Tuesday following a five day illness, were held at the Parsons Funeral Home in Ripley on Thursday morning with Rev. Dutch Guthrie officiating.  Burial took place in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.  She was born in Ohio, the daughter of James and Jane Ballenger.  She was the widow of the late David Vannest.  Mrs. Vannest is survived by one brother, Albert Anthony of Ripley, and two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Shinn of Ripley and Mrs. Addie Harvey of Ripley.  (Friday, 12 Aug 1949)         Vannest, Emma Florence Anthony                    Emma Florence (Anthony) Vannest, daughter of James and Jane (Ballenger) Anthony, was born in June 1871 and died at Ripley, August 2, 1949, aged 78 years and one month.  She was united in marriage to David Vannest and to this union two children were born, a son, Orton, and a daughter, Bessie.  The husband and both children preceded her in death.  Mrs. Vannest is survived by one brother, Albert Anthony and two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Shinn and Mrs. Addie Harvey, all of Ripley.  One brother, Thomas Anthony and one sister, Dellie Anthony, preceded her in death.  (Friday, 26 Aug 1949)  (Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection)</p>
