Information: John Thompson died Sunday evening, December 8, at the home of his niece, Mrs. G. T. Parsons, on Stone Lick, near Plum Orchard, with a complication of diseases incident to advanced age.  Mr. Thompson has been a resident of Jackson county for many years, living near Advent until a few years ago when he came to make his home with Mrs. Parsons, and perhaps he was the oldest person in the state, being 106 years, 8 months and 21 days of age at the time of his death.  He served in the Union army during the civil war and was very proud of his record made during that fierce struggle.  He is survived by one son, Joseph Thompson, of Advent, and two daughters, Mrs. Rebecca Parsons, Kenna and Mrs. Jane Raines, Middlefork.  The funeral services were held at the home and interment made in the cemetery near Plum Orchard.
