Death Notice:
Obituary Date: 1949-01-14
Information: The body of Hubert Stewart, 35, of Cottageville, was found lying in the road at the Cedar Run Church about three miles below Ravenswood Sunday night about 10:30 by John C. Skeen, who immediately notified authorities who went to the scene and made an investigation. Stewart, who had been in failing health, had apparently gotten out of his car which he had parked by the roadside and had dropped dead and his body was lying in the highway when Skeen came upon him. The funeral service will be held at Cottageville this (Wednesday) afternoon with Rev. I. J. McCollum officiating and the burial will be in the Blaine Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Stewart, and a sister, Mrs. Virginia Lee Winter, all of Cottageville, and two brothers, Guy Stewart and Joe Stewart, both of Morgantown. Another brother, Benjamin, died suddenly about six months ago. After making the on-the-spot investigation, officials were convinced that it was a case of natural death. He was born 31 July 1913, died 9 Jan 1949. (from the obituary collection of Betty Kessel McIntyre)
