Obituary Date: 1928-05-10
Information: Hollie Rufus Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mason Stewart, of Rockcastle, W. Va. was born April 9, 1899, departed this life April 5, 1928; age 28 years, 11 months and 26 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Nellis Haught June 4, 1921. To this union were born four children, two girls and two boys, namely, Arlage, Glendie May, Bulah Faye and Hollie Junior. Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn their loss, his father and mother and five sisters and three brothers as follows: Clayton, Oscar, Dorris, and Belle of Akron, Ohio, Herbert of Columbus, Ohio, Clara of Given, and Lillian, at home, and a host of friends and relatives. He was converted February 23, 1920 under the pastorate of Rev. I. J. McCollum. He was a good husband and a kind and loving father. And although he was afflicted with a lingering disease, he bore this suffering with all the patience of a Christian, and in his last days when he had almost reached the last mile stone of the way he said he was ready to answer the Master's call. And in the last hours he talked of seeing the beautiful city of God and told his loved ones who were at his bedside that he was going home to live with Jesus. On Friday before he died he told his companion that she had been a good wife and had done all she could and that she had nothing to regret, saying that she had been true to her marriage vows. The funeral services were conducted at Mt. Olive U. B. church April 7, with Rev. I. J. McCollum in charge, assisted by Rev. Hiley. After the services interment was made in Mt. Olive cemetery to await the resurrection morning, when Hope from the dust shall conquering rise. -- A Friend
