Information: Sherman Steele, son of George and Amy Lockhart Steele, was born August 4, 1858 and departed his life February 14, 1936, aged 77 years, 6 months and 10 days.  He was united in marriage to Miss Martha Archer on October 6, 1881 and to this union was born six children:  Benjamin H. Amy May, Charles B., Otto S., Mary Ellen, and Rhonda C.  His wife and one son preceded him in death.  He leaves to mourn his departure, Benjamin H. Steele and Amy May Culver, of Sandyville, Charles Steele, of Rockport, Mary Ellen Miller, of Sherman, Rhoda, of East Liverpool, Ohio, and one brother, Laken Steele, of Dayton, Ohio.  He accepted Christ as a personal saviour in a revival at Providence, conducted by Rev. H. K. Riffe, and joined the Shepherd Chapel church.  Funeral services were conducted by Rev. F. G. Simmons at the home of the deceased's daughter, Mrs. Culver, on February 16.  The remains were laid to rest in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery. [Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection]
