Information: Jonathan Edward Stanley, who was born 5 years before the beginning of the Civil War, died at 8 o'clock Monday morning at his home near Ripley from a stroke.  The aged man had been in ill health for about five years.  Mr. Stanley was born April 21, 1855 in Roane County and was one of the early residents of this section.  He was a member of the Methodist Church.  Besides his wife, he is survived by seven children, Arthur Stanley of Springfield, Ohio; Mrs. Fay Melchin and Mrs. Willa Ennis, also of Springfield; Mote and G. W. Stanley, and Mrs. W. H. Waybright, all of Ripley, and Floyd Stanley of Ravenswood; 34 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Mt. Olive church with Rev. W.A. Harpold officiating.  Interment was in the Mt. Olive cemetery.
