Information: Mrs. Verta Staats, 86, 1417 39th St. died at 2 p.m. yesterday at Greenlawn Convalescent Home after a long illness.  She was the widow of Theodore Staats, who died in 1937, and for over 40 years was associated with him in operating a general merchandise store at Reedy, Roane County.  Born Jan. 11, 1876, in Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Rose Casto.  She had been a resident of Parkersburg for 14 years and belonged to Stout Memorial Church here.  Mrs. Staats was graduated from Marshall College (now University) in Huntington and taught school in Putnam and Jackson counties for several years.  Surviving her are a daughter, Mrs. Blondena Vineyard, Ripley; two granddaughters, Mrs. Juanita Swain, Parkersburg and Mrs. Lois Ann Wallace, Ripley; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Nell Ball, Charleston.  Burial in Ravenswood Cemetery.
