Information: Clair E. Staats, 85, of Fairplain died Thursday at Jackson General Hospital following a short illness.  Funeral services were held Saturday at the Fairplain Union Church, with the Rev. Rankin Roach and the Rev. John Cumberledge officiating.  Burial was in the Casto Cemetery at Fairplain.  Vail Funeral Home, Ripley was in charge of arrangements.  He was born in Jackson County, a son of the late Riley and Alice Casto Staats, and was a retired farmer and member of the Fairplain Union Church.  He is survived by one son, Hope Staats of Fairplain; three daughters, Mrs. Faith Anderson of Fairplain, Mrs. Charity Harpold of Ripley, and Mrs. Fay Coon of Milton; one brother, Lloyd of Cross Lanes; three sisters, Mrs. Docha Fisher of Huntington, Mrs. Hettie Hughes of Magnetic Springs, Ohio and Mrs. Dolly Tolley of New Lexington, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
