She was sitting in a chair and was talking to Harold Pringle when she suddenly slumped and when members of the family reached her she was dead. The death was a severe shock to members of the family and friends who believed her to be well on the road to recovery from an attack of acute indigestion on Monday night. She was 69 years six months and two days of age at the time of her death. She is survived by the husband and two daughters, Mrs. Ora L. Thompson of Stallings, W. Va., and Mrs. Alta M. Holland of Dawson, W. Va. Ten grand-children, one of whom is Raymond Holland, who lived with the Staats family, survive. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Fred Pringle of Ripley; Edward Pringle of Gay; Mrs. Rosa Southall of Gay; Mrs. Effie Lemaster, of Ravenswood, and Miss Ethel Pringle, of Ripley. Mrs. Staats was a daughter of the late John G. and Mazilla Pringle, pioneer residents of the Fairplain section of the county. Mrs. Staats was a quiet, unassuming lady and was held in highest esteem by the people of the town, who regret exceedingly her passing. The funeral services will be held today (Friday) and burial will follow in the Shinn cemetery at Fairplain. OBITUARY - Mrs. Artimitia Pringle Staats, daughter of John G. and Mazilla Pringle, was born near Fairplain on August 15, 1862, and departed this life February 17, 1932, at the age of 69 years six months and two days. She was united in marriage to M. C. Staats August 24, 1884, and to this union was born two daughters, Mrs. Ora L. Thompson of Stollings, W. Va. and Mrs. Alta M. Holland of Dawson, W. Va. Besides her husband and daughters, she is survived by ten grand-children, one of whom, Raymond Holland, has lived most of his life with her; two brothers, F. W. Pringle of Fairplain; O. E. Pringle of Gay, and three sisters, Mrs. Rosa Southall of Gay; Mrs. Effie McMaster of Ravenswood, and Miss Ethel Pringle of Fairplain, and many relatives and friends. Mrs. Staats was a constant and devoted follower of her Lord, joining the United Brethren church in 1881. She was a regular attendant of her church and Sunday school until declining health forced her to worship at home. She lived an every-day Christian life, beloved by all who knew her. The home of Mrs. Staats was always a haven of rest for her relatives and friends until the end. She sleeps today in the home she loved so much and for whose welfare she devoted her life, where she was loved and adored by both husband and daughters. We mourn her going but we feel sure that in the Great Beyond, where the physical bonds which limit our activities here have been cast aside, she is exercising her great attributes of motherly love and kindliness so characteristic of her life here on earth. With faith in the religion of the man of Galilee, we know that God is over head, and as life is to the living, so death is to the dead.
