Information: Sylvester Green Boso was born January 30, 1842, died Saturday, June 23, 1917, at his home on Cavins Fok, Grant district.  The first nineteen years of his life were spent at various occupations, then when the call came to serve his country he was among the first to volunteer in defense of our nation. He served as a private in Company F, Fourth Regiment West Virginia Infantry, from the beginning of the war until he was wounded in the battle of Vicksburg, July 4, 1863, which caused him to be an invalid the greater part of his life. He was married August 30, 1865, to Nancy Cross.  To this union fifteen children were born, thirteen growing to manhood and womanhood, two little girls being called in their infancy.  Later he death angel called two young men from the happy home and now the call has come to the beloved father and husband.  Besides his wife there survive eleven children, five boys and six girls, thirty grand-children two great grand-children, one brother, two half sisters and a host of friends to mourn their lost. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and all during his life, when able, he was found to be a faithful member at their meetings and exercises.  He was always a loyal American citizen ever standing by the American flag and for right and honor.  During his sickness he was never known to complain.  He was always kind, gentle and considerate to those waiting on him.  No one was more kind and patient than his wife who was his constant compainion and nurse during his entire illness.  While making no public confession of being a christian he left evidence that he was ready when the call came. The funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, June 26, by Rev. H. E. Hendricks.  Services at the grave in the Cross cemetery were conducted by the G. A. R. Post. The surviving children are Mrs. J. P. Meredith, Kent, O.; Mrs. John Solberger and Mrs. David Nohe, Ravenna, O.; C. L. Boso, Sherman, W.Va.; G. W. Boso, Parkersburg; S. G. Boso, Jr., Naval Training Station, Newport, R. I.; Mrs. Lewis Rawson, Mrs. Robert Rawson and Mrs. A. K.
