Information: Robert J. Smith, 87, of Spring Hill, Fla., formerly of Jackson County and Parkersburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 1988, in Bear Creek Nursing Home, Hudson, Fla.  He was born in Jackson County, a son of the late George and Lettie Rake Smith.  He was a Methodist and was a retired construction worker and a member of the Laborers International Union Local 1085.  Following his retirement, he served as a custodian for the Wood County Board of Education.  Surviving:  daughters, Barbara Alderman of Spring Hill, Fla., Elberta Spinelli of St. Petersburg, Fla.; step-daughter, Ada Sinnett of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Palmer Smith, who died in 1939; his second wife, Ella Smith, who died in 1967; and one son, Loren Smith.  Funeral services were Monday at the Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Clay Sloan officiating.  Burial followed in the Odaville Cemetery.
