Information: Funeral services for James F. Smith, 72, of Charleston, formerly of Roane County, who died at the Jackson General Hospital Friday after a lengthy illness were conducted Sunday at the Newton United Methodist Church.  The Rev. L. C. Morris officiated and interment was in the Smith Cemetery at Uler.  He was born at Newton, Roane County, June 3, 1900, son of the late John and Bertha Schroder Smith and was a retired employee of the Cabot Gas Co.  Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Geneva Rogers Smith; three sons, Ralph of Ripley, Frank of Bedford, Va., and Curt of Homewood, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Gladys Price and Mrs. Margaret Davis, both of S. Charleston, and Mrs. Laura Heron of Winfield; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
