Information: Dr. J. Howard Smith, a Ripley dentist since 1915, died Wednesday.  Dr. Smith, 85. died in Jackson General Hospital.  He was a graduate of Ohio College of Dental Surgery in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was a member of the American Dental Society and American Hereford Assn.  Surviving:  daughters, Mrs. Ida Kathryn Johnston of Ripley, Mrs. Jean Howard Kittle of Coshocton, Ohio; five grandchildren.  Service was held Friday in Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, with the Rev. Vairl Winter and the Rev. Kenneth Ball officiating.  Burial was in Shinn Cemetery at Fairplain.
