  <p>Information: Ambrose C. Smith, 94, of Ripley, formerly of Charleston, died Tuesday, March 15, 1988, at Care Inn, following a long illness.  He was a member of the Schwamb Memorial Presbyterian Church, Charleston.  He was retired from United Fuel Gas Co. after 41 years of service.  Surviving:  wife, Ina Gandee Smith of Ripley; sons, Kenneth R. of Charleston and Edsel K. of Overland Park, Kansas; stepson, Robert Gandee of Ravenswood; stepdaughter, Virginia Gandee of Ripley; sisters, Dottie Smith of Charleston and Ada Smith of Ripley; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  Services will be Friday at 11 am at Vail Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Henson officiating.  Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 3:30 pm Thursday.    (Betty Kessel McIntyre)</p>
