Information: Albert Russell Smith, 73, of Melbourne, Fla., formerly of Ripley, died Dec. 12, 1987, at home after a long illness.  He was a retired commercial painter and a veteran of World War II.  He was the son of the late Minda and Lawrence Smith, formerly of Ripley.  Survivors are:  daughter, Mary Burger of Tavares, Fla.; brothers, Estel and Lowen of Ripley, Aley of Augusta, Ga., Owens of Harrisonville, Ohio; sisters, Kathleen Bowling of Ripley, Maxine Arnott of Cross Lanes, Macel Vineyard of Portland, Oregon; one grandchild.  Mr. Smith was cremated and a private service was officiated by Rev. David King at the Fairplain Cemetery.
