Information: Ira Gilbert Slaven, 79, of Sherman, died Thursday evening at his home following a long illness.  He was born in Toppins Grove, Jackson County, son of the late George and Molly Rardin Slaven.  He was a member of the Willowdale Baptist Church and had been a farmer most of his life.  He is survived by his wife, Dora Lambert Slaven; four brothers, Wilber Slaven of Belleville, W. Va., Clarence Slaven and Dorrall Slaven, both of Sherman, W. Va., and Okey Slaven of Wilmington, Ohio; two sisters, Vertie Flowers of Williamstown and Gladys Bergeron of St. Antonio, Texas.  He was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother and two sisters.  Services were Sunday at the Willowdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Shirley Rhodes officiating.  Burial was in Willowdale Cemetery.  Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg, was in charge of arrangements.
