Information: Fred Slaughter, a well known citizen of Union district, died in a hospital at East Liverpool, Ohio, last Saturday, February 24, aged 40 years.  He had been working in a steel mill for the past month or so, and caught cold which resulted in acute neprhitis and only lived a week or so after stricken.  He was deputy sheriff under R. P. Shinn and also engaged as a stock dealer for the past few years with C. M. Coast as partner.  His many friends regret his untimely demise, as he possessed many admirable traits of character.  Funeral services Monday in U. B. church at Cottageville, conducted by Rev. Ramsey.
