Death Notice:

Obituary Date: 1922-03-04

Information: The death angel again visited our community and claimed one of our best friends and citizens.  Mrs. Margaret Skeen died Sunday, February 20, 1922, suffering only one week with pneumonia fever.  While her many friends, and especially her own family, who did all that loving hands and kind words could do or say for her, will miss her.  We realize that her suffering has been turned into joy.  Aunt Margaret always visited the sick and lent a helping hand to the poor and needy and above all she was one of the most noble christian women of our community.  She has been a member of the Goshen Baptist church for many years.  Her husband, John H. Skeen, preceded her to the better land only three weeks ago, and two sons, Samuel H. Skeen, three months, and Virgil Skeen, about two years ago.  Besides her many friends and loved ones, she leaves to mourn their loss, three daughters, Mrs. Vena Kiser, of Kentuck, Mrs. Cora Smith of Charleston, and Mrs. Ona Ray of Kentucky.  She has left us but not forever, if we all live a christian life as Aunt Margaret has lived, we will meet her in a better land where there is no sad parting, but where there is joy and eternal life.   (from the Betty Kessel McIntyre collection)
