Death Notice:

Obituary Date: 1922-02-11

Information: On Friday morning, January 28, Rev. John H. Skeen, of Kentuck, departed this life, age 72 years.  He was among the best men of our country.  To know Uncle John, as he was commonly called, was to love him.  He was a member of the Goshen Baptist Church for more than 50 years and was always found at his post, doing all he could for the Master.  He was always interested in seeing souls brought to Christ.  He will be greatly missed at the church, at his home and in the county in which he had lived all his life.  He leaves a wife and three children to mourn their loss, as follows:  Mrs. J. T. Kiser of Kentuck, Mrs. J. H. Smith of Charleston and Mrs. Ona Ray of Kentucky, besides a host of friends.  He was buried Saturday in the family cemetery, Rev. T. O. Powers preaching the funeral.  The Order of Odd Fellows had charge of the body, as he was a member of that order.   (from the Betty Kessel McIntyre collection)
