  <p>Information:      ELI SIMMONS DEAD.  Eli Simmons, 85, died at his home at Kenna at 3:00 o&#39;clock Sunday morning, May 18, after a lingering illness due to advance age.           Mr. Simmons was born October 7, 1834, in Sierria county, North Carolina, and came to Parchment with his father at the age of eleven years and has since been a resident of this county.  In his early manhood he united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Jane Shinn (1848-1929) and began house-keeping at Kenna.  He later engaged in the mercantile business which he successfully followed for twenty-seven years.            Many years ago Mr. Simmons united with the United Brethren church and lived a true Christian life.           Besides the wife, deceased is survived by two sons and four daughters, Dr. G.W. Simmons, Ripley; Everette Simmons, Kenna; Mrs. Ella Green, Ripley; Mrs. Cannie Lee, Kenna; Mrs. Erma Green, Fairplain, and Mrs. Mollie Kiser, Fletcher.        The funeral services, conducted by Rev. Kelbaugh, were held at the Pleasant Valley church Monday forenoon and interment made in the church cemetery.       </p>
