Obituary Date: 1935-02-01
Information: Robert R. Shinn, youngest son of John Shinn, of Cottageville [Cow Run], died suddenly in a Columbus, Ohio hospital last Wednesday evening shortly after he had developed a serious case of pneumonia fever. Young Shinn, who suffered a broken arm in an automobile accident near Evans a few weeks ago, had gone to Columbus to visit relatives and to recuperate. He took sick the first of the week and was taken to the hospital after pneumonia had developed. His case became more serious as the day passed Wednesday and he died before any of the Cottageville relatives reached his bedside. Relatives who live in Columbus, however, were with him when the end came. The body was brought to the home of his father Friday afternoon and the funeral services were held at the Creston church Sunday afternoon and burial was in the Creston cemetery. He is survived by his father, John Shinn of Cottageville, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mabel Cossin of Cow Run; Howard Shinn, Mrs. Daisy Stone, Mrs. Lillie Schwarz, and Mrs. Dollie Stover, all of Columbus, Ohio; and Paul Shinn of Evans. The mother died 6 or 7 years ago. [from the Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection]
