  <p>Information: Lawrence Ott Shinn, 74, of Mt. Alto, departed this life December 10, 1997 at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, OH following a sudden illness.  He was born October 17, 1923 at Mt. Alto, a son of the late Clarence L. and Bessie A. ""Snyder"" Shinn.  He was a retired carpenter from the Carpenter&#39;s Union Local #1159 Point Pleasant.  He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and was an avid outdoorsman.  He was a Protestant.  Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Maxine ""Sayre"" Shinn; sons, Larry Lee Shinn of Mt. Alto and Stephen Wayne Shinn of Ripley; daughter, Carolyn Ranson of Fairplain; brother, George Shinn of Paris, KY; sister, Delores Durst of Cottageville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.  Service will be Sunday 2 p.m. at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, with the Rev. Gerald Sayre and the Rev. Clarence Morton officiating.  Burial will follow in the Otterbein Cemetery, Evans, with miliatry honors by VFW Post #3489 Sandyville.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Saturday (today).</p>
