  <p>Information: Boyd Lavelle Shinn, 83, of Kenna, died August 19, 1997, at his residence.  He was born August 18, 1914 in Jackson County, a son of the late James Boyd and Dollie Nichols Shinn. He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.  He had owned and operated Shinn Service Station in Kenna for 54 years.  He was instrumental in the development and completion of the Mill Creek Watershed System.  He served on the Jackson County Board of Education and was a member of the American Legion and  a lifetime member of the VFW.  Surviving are his wife, Edith Young Shinn; three brothers, Perry Shinn of Ripley, Burton Shinn of Live Oak, FL and Jack Shinn of Oklahoma.  Services were Friday, Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, the Rev. Hubert Groves officiating.  Burial Fairplain Cemetery.</p>
