  <p>Information: Sherman Shaffer, 77, of Sandyville, died Tuesday in Jackson General Hospital following a long illness.  He was born in Clendenin, a son of the late George and Missouri Patrick Shaffer.  He was a retired construction worker and attended the Prayer and Faith Tabernacle.  He is survived by his wife, Opal Shaffer; three sons, Gene of Sandyville, Dick and Ronny, both of Ripley; five daughters, Emma Alexander of Sissonville, Betty Johnson of Cambridge, Ohio, Eula Thacker of Evans, Audrey Landfried and Jane Tackett, both of Liverpool; 27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  Service was Friday at the Parsons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Syner and Rev. Creed Pursley officiating. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery.</p>
