  <p>Information: COTTAGEVILLE - Thornton Argo Sayre, 70, of Cottageville, Jackson County, died Jan. 8, 1997, near his home after a short illness.  He was a retired heavy equipment operator from Marble Cliff Quarries, Columbus, Ohio, with 25 years&#39; service, an Army veteran of World War II, a member of VFW Post 3488, Sandyville, and attended Evergreen Hills Freewill Baptist Church, Cottageville. Surviving:  daughters, Charlotte Sayre Hawkins of Columbus, Juanita Sayre Kersey and Patti Sayre Byrd, both of Starke, Fla.; brother, Waldo of Toledo, Ohio; sisters, Ida Livingston of Coolville, Ohio, Chloe Sharp of Galloway, Ohio, Betty Jean Newell of New Haven, Macel Hoschar of Cottagville; five grandchildren.  Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, with the Rev. Gerald B. Sayre officiating.  Burial, with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 3488, will be in Fairview Cemetery, near Cottageville.  Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.</p>
