  <p>Information: R. O. ""Sam"" Sayre, 90, of Evans, WV departed this life Feb. 6, 1997 at Jackson General Hospital following a brief illness.  He was born Aug. 12, 1906 at Evans, a son of the late McComas and Nora Love Sayre.  He was a farmer, a member of the Jackson County Wool Association and the Western Soil Conservation.  He was a protestant.  Surviving are sons, Dencil Sayre and Roger ""Bill"" Sayre of Kenna and Royal ""Boss"" Sayre of Evans; daughters, Beverly Lanham and Reba Jacobs of Given and Elsie Welling of Statesville, NC; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by wives, Blanche Howell Sayre and Doris Frazier Sayre; sons, Darrell L. Sayre and Kenneth D. Sayre; brothers, Henry, George, Della, Clifford and Holly Sayre; sisters, Allena Hill and Faye Sayre; one grandson, Kirby Sayre.  Services will be Sunday, Feb. 9, 1:00 p.m. at the Baden Presbyterian Church at Leon with the Rev. Gerald Sayre officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Friends may call Saturday (today) from 2 to 8 p.m. at Casto Funeral Home, Evans.</p>
