Information: Herbert Reuben Sayre, 73, of Cottageville, departed this life, Aug. 17, 1998, at CAMC Memorial Division, following a brief illness.  He was born May 25, 1925, at Cottageville, a son of the late Fred L. and Marie (Ankrum) Sayre.  He was a retired maintenance mechanic from Kaiser Aluminum at Ravenswood, a member of United Steel Workers Union Local #5668.  He was also retired from Operating Engineers Local #132 and attended the Evergreen Hills Freewill Baptist Church of Cottageville.  Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Virginia (Wheeler) Sayre; sons, Tim C. of Cottageville and Fred R. of Hurricane; brother, Jimmy ""Butch"" Sayre of Cottageville; sister, Joann West of Cottageville; grandchildren, Dorothy Elizabeth Sayre, Melissa Kathleen Sayre and Reuben Harrison Sayre, all of Hurricane.  He was preceded in death by brothers, Henry, Robert, Glenn and Samuel ""Bud"" Sayre; sisters, Imogene Dean and Freddie Lee Sayre.  Services were Thursday, August 20, 1998, at the Evergreen Hills Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Price and the Rev. Gerald Sayre officiating.  Burial in Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville.  Information provided by Casto Funeral Home.
