Information: George Sayre, widely known resident of Jackson county, died at his home Saturday morning, January 21, 1950.  He was the son of Abe and Katie Sayre, born October 22, 1859 and at his death was 89 years, two months and 29 days old.  He was united in marriage to Mazilla Jane Herdman in 1883.  To this union were born nine children.  His wife preceded him in death, December 4, 1939 and three children died several years ago.     He leaves one brother, Ezekiel Sayre of Leon and the following children:  Wade Sayre of Powell, Ohio, Virgil of Fremont, Ohio, Roy of Columbus, Ohio, Criss and Tom of Evans; one daughter, Mrs. H. J. Shinn of Cottageville; 35 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.  Funeral service was conducted at the Creston E. U. B. Church Jan. 22, 1950 at 2 p.m. with Rev. I. J. McCollum officiating.  Interment was made in Creston cemetery.
