Information: G. H. (Harvey) Sayre died at his home in Ripley, Tuesday, July 15. He was born in Union District, a son of G. W. and Mary Jane Lewis Sayre on April 29, 1872, having attained the age of 97 years.  He was a retired farmer, a past member of the National Grange, and was elected seven times a member of the Executive Board of the W. Va. State Grange, serving a total of 21 years.  He was also elected a commissioner of the Jackson County Court in 1930.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Antioch.  Although he had been bedfast for many months, he retained his faculties to almost the time of death and inquired of two sons, in the service, of a lady caller less than three hours before he died. He was preceded in death by two wives, Arkie Dulin Sayre and Fannie Paugh Sayre, one daughter, Essie, and a son, Paul D.  Surviving him are a daughter and son-in-law, Bessie and Charlie Meredith of Parkersburg and Ripley, who cared for him the past two years; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held at Otterbein United Methodist Church Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. L. R. Mahoney officiating and burial was in Otterbein cemetery.  Arrangements were in charge of the Casto Funeral Home at Evans.
