Information: Attorney Floyd M. Sayre, 77, died suddenly at his law office in Beckley Tuesday while dictating a letter to his secretary. He was born at Given, a son of the late S. B. and Clara Kessel Sayre. He graduated from West Viurginia University College of Law and practiced in Beckley. He was one of the first three volunteers from Jackson County in World War I. Survivors include his wife and five children, Truman, Robert, Floyd Jr., Frances and Graham; a sister, Mrs. Dollie Jordan of Charleston; two aunts, Mrs. Belle Bibbee of Charleston, and Mrs. Delcie Davis of Ripley, and numerous other relatives. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at press time. Funeral services for Atty. Floyd M. Sayre, 77, of Beckley, were held there Thursday with burial in Sunset Mausoleum. Mr. Sayre died suddenly at his law office. He had practiced law in Beckley for 49 years. A native of Ripley, he was a member of the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce and was a past president of the Flat Top Lake Assn. He taught school for three years in Putnam County. A past president of the Beckley Rotary Club, Mr. Sayre was a member and former chairman of the board of deacons of Beckley Presbyterian Church and was a Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of the Raleigh County Bar Assn., the Elks Lodge and was a leader in the Republican Party. A World War I veteran, Mr. Sayre was a graduate of Marshall College and West Virginia University Law School. Surviving: widow, Winifred; sons, Truman L. and Robert B., both of Beckley, Floyd M. Jr. of Southern Pines, N. C.; Graham E. of Lancaster, Ohio; daughter, Miss Frances Sayre of Arlington, Va.; sister, Mrs. Dollie Jordan of Charleston.
