Information: Dorothy Virginia (Wheeler) Sayre, 81, of Cottageville, Jackson County, departed this life September 19, 2010, at her home following an extended illness.  She was born April 8, 1929 in Mount Alto, and was a daughter of the late James Ray and Vade (Smith) Wheeler.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Reuben Sayre; and her brother, Clyde Wheeler.  She earned her master's degree plus 30 hours from Marshall University.  She was a retired teacher for the Jackson County school system with 40 years of service, primarily at Cottageville Elementary School, and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.  She attended Evergreen Hills Freewill Baptist Church.  She loved life, her children, her grandchildren and her students.  Her hobbies were cooking and traveling, having visited all 50 states and four continents, and she was an avid Marshall fan.      Survivors include her sons and their wives, Fred R. and Kathleen Sayre of Hurricane and Tim C. and Catherine Sayre of Ravenswood; grandchildren, Dorothy E. and Branden Bavle, Melissa Sayre, Reuben Sayre and Michael B. Sayre; sister-in-law, Doris Wheeler; and many nieces and nephews.  Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, with the Rev. Gerald B. Sayre and the Rev. Mark Price officiating.  Burial will follow in Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Donations may be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd.W., Charleston WV 25312-2536.  Online condolences may be sent to CASTOFH@gmail.com.
