Information: DEATH TAKES CHARLES SAYRE - Charles Sayre, II, former resident of Ripley, died Dec. 15 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Edith Sayre Stevens, One North Side Drive, Dogwood Acres, Chapel Hill, N. C.  He was born Sept. 1, 1886, son of Margaret Price and Charles Sayre, I, who was the son of Amelia Rice and Joel Sayre, pioneer settlers of Ripley.  After the organization of the county, for four years the courts of Jackson County were held in the home of Joel Sayre.  Charles Sayre I served in the Civil War and his maternal and paternal grandparents served in the Revolutionary War and Indian Wars.       Charles Sayre II was a retired employee of the United Fuel Gas Co.  He married the former Edith Augusta Lemley, who preceded him in death May 7, 1964.  Both were buried at Chapel Hill.  Surviving are two daughters, Eunice Sayre Churchill and Edith Sayre Stevens; two granddaughters, Robin Churchill and Toby Stevens; three sisters, Miss Greek Sayre, retired professor of English at West Virginia University, Mrs. William Nelson (Clara) McClung, Inwood, Mrs. Dorothy Sayre, Morgantown, and Gordon Sayre of Morgantown, a brother.  Mr. Sayre accompanied by his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Churchill, and grandson, Robin, visited Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Miller, Sr., of Ravenswood in August and called on a number of boyhood friends in Ripley, Evans and Ravenswood.
