Information: Abijah Sayre was born in Jackson county May 17th, 1849, and departed this life January 30th, 1925, age 75 years, 8 months and 13 days.  He was united in marriage to Ellen Hartley, December 24th, 1874.  Thye lived to see their golden anniversary, which was last December 24th.  To this union were born seven children, three having preceded him to the Great Beyond, Holly I. and Stephen S. Sayre and Mrs. Josie Miller.  Those surviving him are his wife and four children, Mrs. Anna Ridenour of Westerville, Ohio, Mrs. Lora Smith of Mt. Alto, Thomes E. Sayre and Mrs Mary Fox of Cottageville, W. Va.  Mr. Sayre has been in bad health for some time, but his condition became serious two weeks ago.  All that medical aid and loving hands could do to ease his suffering was done, but at last death came to relieve him of all pain and suffering.  He bore his suffering patiently and a few minutes before his death, told his family that he was not afraid to die and that all was well.  He was widely known and honored by all who knew him.  He was devoted to his family  and always taught his family to be honest and do the right.  His greatest interest was about his home.  His advice and company will be greatly missed.  His funeral services were conducted at Antioch church, Saturday at eleven o'clock by Rev. Hite, pastor of the U.B. church, and interment made in the Cottageville cemetery.
