  <p>Information: Mrs. Irene Smith Sawyer, 86, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Charleston, died Nov. 16, 1989, at General Division, CAMC, after a long illness.  She was the sister of Alice Shinn of Ripley.  She was a graduate of Morris Harvey College and Columbia University.  She taught in Jackson and Kanawha county schools, Long Island University and Morris Harvey College. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Charleston, Peace Presbyterian Church, Clearwater and Alpha Omicron Pi social sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma teachers&#39; sorority and American Association of University Women.  Also surviving:  husbnd, Haydn P. Sawyer; brother, Chester Clare Smith of Charleston; sister, Texie Smith of Charleston.  Memorial service was Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, Charleston.  The body has been cremated.  The family requests contributions to a charity of choice.  Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.</p>
