  <p>Information: Garnet M. Sands, 86, the Sherman community of Ravenswood, passed away January 7, 2012 at Ravenswood Village, Ravenswood WV.  She was born December 6, 1925 in Ravenswood to Lewis H. McCarty and Hazel Bowman McCarty.  She was a homemaker and was a member of and Sunday school teacher at Fannin Chapel, Sherman WV.  She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Larry Eugene; and brother, Lewis McCarty, Jr.  Surviving relatives include her husband of 66 years, Louis Sands, Sherman WV; children, Dianne Thacker and husband Chuck, Ravenswood, Keith Sands and long time companion,Trish Smith, Ravenswood and Martha Sands, Sherman WV; grandchildren, Tony Thacker and wife Tonya, Racine, Ohio, and Aaron Thacker and wife Rachel, Battle Creek MI; five great-grandchildren, Noah, Abigail, Grant, Christopher, and Carter Thacker; sisters, Gale Bever, Medina WV, Jackie Conger, Boaz WV, and Pat Straight McNeeley, Weeki Wachi FL; several nieces and nephews.  The services are Tuesday, January 10, 2012, 11 am at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood.</p>
