Information: Raymond Franklin Sams, 63, of Rt. 1, Ripley, died at Jackson General Hospital Wednesday after a long illness.  He was born Sept. 1, 1911, in Jackson County, son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Ida Baldwin Sams and was retired from A. B. Chance Co. at Parkersburg.  Survivors include his wife, Esther Wilson Sams; seven daughters, Mary Saffel of Everettsville, Ill., Barbara Lee Hutchinson and Violet Kay, both of Sandyville, Effie Stephens of Mansfield, O., Joanetta Anderson, Sherrie Anderson and Carrie Mullinex, all of Ripley; four sons, Lonnie of Rt. 1, Ravenswood, Homer of Dearfield, O., Raymond and Roland, both of Ripley; four brothers, Robert Sams of Loraine, O., Lonnie Sams of Marietta, O., Shirley of Williamstown, and Rennie Sams of Ravenswood; and several grandchildren.  Services were held Saturday at Chambers Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul V. Bell officiating.  Burial was in Ravenswood Cemetery.
