  <p>Information: James Alton Ross, 60, of Ripley, died Wednesday, Aug 1. 1990, at Jackson General Hospital following an extended illness.  He was born in Nashville, Tenn., a son of Henry A. Ross of Griffin, Ga., and Irene M. Price of Indianapolis, Ind.  He was an Army veteran.  He was a retired heavy equipment operator for State Construction, and was an employee of Fairplain Tractor Sales.  He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Hedge Ross; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Cheryl Ross of Greenfield, Ind.; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Ronald Harper of Ripley; two brothers, Harold of Beechgrove, Ind. and Howard of Creel Springs, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Corey, Nikki and Logan Harper, all of Ripley.  Services were Saturday at the Washington Park East Cemetery Chapel, Indianapolis, Ind.  Casto Funeral Home, Evans, was in charge of arrangements.</p>
