Information: Raleigh Shinn Tin"" Rogers, 87, of Ripley, passed away July 24, 2013, at his home. He was born January 23, 1926, at Ripley, a son of the late David Jacob and Belle Shinn Rogers. He was a 1943 graduate of Mill Creek High School. After high school, he served in the Navy during World War II. Raleigh earned a degree from Virginia Tech in 1950 and was managing partner of O.J. Morrison Department Store for over 40 years. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank, later becoming United National Bank, now known as United Bank. He was an avid golfer and founding member of the Greenhills Country Club. Raleigh was a member of the Ripley Rotary Club and an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by brothers, Bernard Rogers of Dunbar, Robert (Bob) Rogers of Charleston; sister,Eleanor Hugelmeyer of Wilmington, Del.; and grandson, Matthew Eckel of Houston, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia L. Rogers; children, J.D. Rogers and his wife, Kathy of Charleston, WV, Robbie Rogers and his wife, Missy of Ripley, WV; daughter Rachel Eckel and her husband, Skip of Newman, GA; grandchildren, Megan Eckel of Atlanta, GA and Brandon Rogers of Pittsburgh, PA. Funeral service will be 3 p.m., Sunday, July 2, at the Calvary United Methodist Church, Ripley with Reverend Crles Hick officiating. Burial will be in the Fairplain Cemetery, Ripley. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley is serving the family.
