Information: Mr. Jacob H. Rogers, who resided with son on Given Route 1, died Saturday morning of complications of diseases, aged 78 years.  Mr. Rogers was born in North Carolina in 1835, moving from there to Putnam county, later across the line into Jackson county.  He was a prosperous farmer and took a prominent part in the affairs of the community in which he resided, previous to his failure of health six or seven years ago.  He is survived by his wife, five sons and two daughters:  Charles Rogers of Ripley, J. E. Rogers and R. L. Rogers of Charleston, Jacob H. Rogers, Jr. of Huntington, J. T. Rogers of Ohio, Mrs. T. M. Hilmes of Liverpool, and Mrs. J. P. Bush.  The funeral which was held Sunday at Mt. Zion, Putnam county, was one of the largest ever held in that section and attests the high respect for the deceased.  The services were conducted by Rev. Brooks Kessel.  (McIntyre)
