Information:      Long-time Ripley resident, Major (Ret.) Carl C. Robinson, 78, died Monday morning January 26, 1976, at his Charleston Drive home, Ripley.  He was born October 31, 1897, in Jackson County, a son of the late Rev. Curtis and Blanch McHenry Robinson.  Mr. Robinson was a graduate of Ripley High School and the United States Military Academy at West Point with the Class of 1919.  He began his military career as a Fourth Class Cadet in 1916 at the Academy. From June 1917 to November 1918 his rank was Cadet and as a student officer at USMA from December 1918 to June 1919.  He graduated from West Point as a Second Lieutenant in 1919.  From July 1919 to Sept 1919 he was assigned to an obsevation tour in France and then he was assigned as a student officer at Camp Benning, GA.  In1927 he was an instructor in the Department of Mathematics at West Point.  After a long and successful career Captain Robinson retired from the military in 1937.  In 1941 President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed him to the rank of Major in the Army of the United States and ordered him back into active duty. After World War II he returned to Ripley and made his home with his parents.  Major Robinson was buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel.  There are no known survivors.
