Information: LONG-TIME RIPLEY HIGH TEACHER DIES -Mrs. Janet V. Riley, 87, of Blacksburg, Va., formerly of Ripley, died May 18, 1991 in Radford Community Hospital, Blacksburg, after a short illness.  She was a retired schoolteacher, having taught in West Virginia for 38 years, most of that time at Ripley High School where she taught English and directed musical shows.  She was an accomplished violinist.  She was honored at the 1983 Ripley Alumni Banquet and concluded the evening by directing group singing.  She was a housemother at Marshall University, Huntington, and an active member of Huntington YWCA.  She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Ripley.  Surviving: son, Roy J. of Blacksburg; sister, Mary Elizabeth Patterson of Charlotte, N. C.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.  Service was Tuesday at Parsons Funeral Home, Ripley.  Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley.  Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
