Information: FAIRPLAIN - Richard E. ""Ernie"" Rigney, 66, of Fairplain passed away at his home surrounded by family on December 29, 2010 following a short illness.  He was born August 17, 1944 at Kanawha County, a son of the late Charlie Bennett and Mildred Faye Rigney.  He was a member of  the Grasslick Baptist Church and retired from Union Carbide.  He also worked in Telecommunications for HP and was a real estate agent.  Ernie loved to farm and raised miniature donkeys and especially enjoyed putting up hay and riding his tractor.  In addition to his parents, his first wife, Linda Gayle (Wilson) Rigney preceded him in death.  He is survived by his wife, Marion Wilson Rigney; daughters, Lisa Hunt and her husband, Tim of Fairplain and Sherri Eagle and her husband, Scott of Fairplain; step daughters, Sherry Bosworth and her husband, Craig of Ripley and Susan Peters and her husband, J. C. of Brookeville, OH; brothers, C. B. Rigney of Dunbar and Montie Rigney of Hurricane; sister, Susie Gilbert of St. Albans; grandchildren, Corey Hunt, Alyssa Hunt, Maggie Eagle, Megan Eagle, Chris Hunt and Eric Hunt; step grandchildren, Sarah Bosworth, Madison Peters, Garrett Peters and Elliott Peters; nieces and nephews, Norman Sowards (Lisa), Sara Dodrill (Fred) and Teresa LaRue (Al) and also survived by several great nieces and nephews.  Funeral service was held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Grasslick Baptist Church, Kenna with Pastor Jimmie Compton officiating.  Burial followed in the Grasslick Baptist Church Cemetery.  Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley and one hour prior to the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
