Information: Gerald Wallace Riggs, 72, of Kenna WV, passed away September 4, 2014 in the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. He was born February 7, 1942 in Sandyville WV, a son of Lillian (Wilson) Riggs Atwell of Sandyville and the late Carl Riggs. His son, Carl R. ""C.R."" Riggs, stepmother, Myrtle Riggs, and a stepbrother, Lou Morgan, also preceded him in death. He was a United States Army veteran, and a retired truck driver. He was formerly employed by Liquid Transport, Charleston, and was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local #175, Charleston. He was a member of Ashton Lodge #12, AF & AM, Ravenswood, and the VFW, Ripley. He enjoyed going to the fair, and truck and tractor pulls. His CB handle was ""Bone Crusher"" and he was known for driving the truck with the big yellow banana. In addition to his mother, other survivors include his wife, Helen Jewel (Gibson) Riggs; son, Bryan Riggs of Kenna; stepdaughter, Teresa (Brent) Casto of Troutman NC; brothers, Devon Riggs and Dewayne Riggs, both of Sandyville; stepbrothers, Max Morgan and Keith Morgan, both of Sandyville; grandsons, Nathan Riggs and David Riggs; and step grandchildren, Rachel Dixon, Richard Ratliff, Adam Casto and Sarah Casto. Service will be 2 pm Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans WV, with John Gunther officiating. Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery, Sandyville, with military honors by American Legion Post #107, Ripley and Masonic graveside rites by Ashton Lodge #12, AF & AM, Ravenswood.
