Information: Robert Ralph ""Bob"" Rhodes, 72, of Statts Mills, died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Jackson General Hospital in Ripley following a long illness. He was born February 15, 1930, a son of the late Ralph M. and Lora Tolley Rhodes Lanham. He was a graduate of Marshall University with a B. S. in Geology, and attended Colorado University. He was a U. S. Army Veteran and served with the peacekeeping force prior to the Korean War. He was an active member of the Freedom Fellowship Church and served as a Sunday School Teacher. He was a Boy Scout leader, a member of the Ripley Masonic Lodge #16, Order of the Eastern Star, Ripley Chapter #17, a Certified Professional Landman and was an Honorary Life Member of the Benedem Chapter American Association of Professional Landmen. During his retirement, he was an entrepreneur. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Casto Rhodes; sons, Ralph W. Rhodes of New Bern NC and Kevin R. Rhodes of Ann Arbor MI; daughter, Catherine Chandler of Statts Mills; brothers, William E. ""Bill"" Rhodes of Melbourne FL and Carl C. ""Bud"" Lanham of Leesburg VA; sister, Kathleen Turley of Frisco TX; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jamiann Rhodes Nelson; and a sister, Kathleen Beymer. Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, March 20) at 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Ripley, with Pastor John Weaver officiating. Burial will be at the Fairplain Cemetery, near Ripley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Freedom Fellowship Church, P. O. Box 724, Ravenswood WV 26164. Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home of Ripley, is in charge of arrangements.
