Information: DEATH CLAIMS AGED FARMER - Funeral services for Robert Rhodes, 75 years old, were held from the home near Given Saturday morning at ten o'clock with Rev. Bodkin in charge and burial was in the Given cemetery. The Vail undertaking establishment of Ripley had charge of the funeral arrangements. Mr. Rhodes died in a Charleston hospital on Wednesday night where he had been a patient for nine days. He had been in failing health for the past four months. Relatives said that his illness resulted from complications. He was a native of the community and spent his entire life there where he engaged in farming. He was a well known citizen of the county, and his hundreds of friends were shocked when they heard of his death. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Minnie Rhodes; three children, Mrs. Hattie Brotherton of Given, Mrs. Don Parsons of Buffalo and Georgia Rhodes, at home. Also a foster son, Charles W. Parsons, who was the first soldier to enter the present war from Jackson county after selective service was inaugurated and who is now on the Anzio beachhead in Italy. Among the other survivors are also six grandchildren.
