  <p>Information: Word has been received here of the death on Monday, Oct. 9, in a Columbus hospital, of Dr. Fred L. Rhodes, a native of this county who has resided for a number of years in Ohio.  Dr. Rhodes, who was 49 years old, was a son of Mrs. Sallie Rhodes of Cottageville.  He was taken to the Columbus hospital on Saturday, Oct. 7, from his home in Massillon, Ohio.  Well known in Jackson County where he secured his early education, Dr. Rhodes graduated from Ohio State University in 1916, was a member of the Phi Chi Fraternity, and was a Captain in the Medical Corp during the World War.  For some time he was a member of the staff at Massillon State Hospital and had a large practice in that part of the state.  Funeral services were held on Thursday.  Besides his mother, the deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Rhodes, a sister, Mrs. Sue I. Burger of Lansing, Mich., and two brothers, D. W. Rhodes, Jr. of Cottageville and John H. Rhodes of Ripley. [from the Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection]</p>
