His daughter, Ruth Ann, was born in Seville and his son, Danny, was born in England. He returned to Jackson County following military service and joined the Ripley Police Department. He retired from his second full career in 2002 at the rank of corporal and was well known as a true ""community"" police officer, stopping to talk with anyone he encountered to hear a problem, inquire about their family, or share a joke.
