Information: Elias S. Rhodes, one of the prominent school teachers of Jackson county, died at his home here at 2 o'clock Saturday morning, December 8, of tuberculosis. He had been in poor health for several years but was able to work until he was stricken with pneumonia October 17 while making out the tax tickets for the sheriff. Mr. Rhodes was a son of Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Rhodes, both deceased and was born near Ripley, February 2, 1869. He received a common school education and began life as a teacher in the public schools, which vocation he followed for thirty years. He was united in marriage with Miss Willia A. Hogsett, September 24, 1901, and to this union was born one son, Dale, who is about ten years of age. Besides his wife and son he is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Kate Cooder, of Kingfisher, Okla., Mrs. Lucy Board, Tariff, W. Va., Mrs. Jane Grant, Ravenswood, and Mrs. G. L. Stone and Miss Eliza Rhodes of Ripley, and one brother, Daniel D. Rhodes of Ripley. The funeral services conducted by Rev. N. C. Cochrane were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Episcopal church, South, and interment was made in the Pine Hill cemetery.
